Okay just a quick blog today cos I have to write some more of my nanowrimo novel.

It's Clare as a Cat, Me as a Ghost and Gen as a Zebra. Wooooo!
It's me and Joel as a Mad Scientist (he wasn't wearing his crazy glasses in the photo)
Next...
My novel:
This Book is Property of Lance
A series of events on a university campus lead to two unlikely first year boys falling in love.
I'm hoping that by doing a romance-by-numbers novel based VERY loosely on my own experience will mean I won't drive myself into the usual rut around the second or third week.
The two charming looking boys are Joel and Jordan.
This is Joel and me
And this is Jordan and Anaka (see below)
I met Joel at the university's LGBT group. He had come out two hours before to a friend of his who dragged him along to the group. It was the first meeting of the year so I was just as nervous as everyone else, and I just started babbling away to the bemused Joel. We went to a gay club in Belfast called the Kremlin, it's this kind of soviet russian themed club with all black and red interior. It's really nice. I kind of flirted a bit with joel, thinking he was kind of cute. He was all quiet, and eventually he told me he wasn't really out and that this was the first time he'd been to a gay club. I was feeling a little embarressed, and apologised. We talked and danced and stuff and it was nice.
Anyway the past few weeks we've been hanging out more. I don't think we're "going out" or anything. Last weekend Joel asked if we were going to the Kremlin on saturday (which we usually do with a few other friends). I said I was and I went over to meet him. I walk into his room in halls and there's two Joels and a strange girl. Joel introduces his brother Jordan and his brother's girlfriend, Anaka. He also quietly indicates that he's not out to his brother.
I help him make a snack in the kitchen and he explains that I have to make it out to be my idea to go to the kremlin so that he doesn't have to out himself to his brother. Sheesh. He's only been out three weeks and already he has a penchant for the dramatic.
the conversation goes something like this.
Joel: I'm not sure where we're going to go tonight. Anaka: Well where's the good places to go around here? Joel (looks at me) Me: We could go to the kremlin Jordan (wrinkles nose): Isn't that the gay club? Joel: Yeah, but it's a really good club Anaka: You've been? Me: (quickly) Yeah I drag him there most saturdays Joel: They've got good music Jordan (wryly): You mean madonna **note**: Joel has a big madonna obsession: he owns all her albums. Me: Yeah, the usuals. Top 40 stuff Joel: Come on it'll be a laugh. Me: (teasingly) Come on Jordan, you'll have your girl to protect you!
So we all agree to go, inevitably I meet some of my gay friends while I'm there and quickly explain the situation so they don't out Joel. This proves not to be an issue as they just ignore him and dissapear into their own personal dramas. We have a good night all in all. There was even a surprise visit from the Sheilas (you know from that car advert for Sheila's Wheels?). I try testing the water with Jordan and Anaka and try and gauge their reactions to things. Ultimately I decide that they both have inklings as to joel. We all have this theory that Joel's a super-hero as he keeps rushing off without a moment's notice.
The Sheilas Themselves.
I tell anaka that I fancy joel a little and she says that she thinks he's straight. Nyeh.
Joel and I say goodbye to Anaka and Jordan and head back to his where we fall asleep watching "12 Angry Men" (Sidney Lumet, 1957).
All this stuff is a little weird for me. I totally don't want to be doing this whole dating thing again. I don't know... maybe I'm becoming a commitment-o-phobe or whatever. But we seem to be dating.
I don't know what's going on really.
I'll update you as things progress.
Right now I have to go finish a philosophy essay about causal determinism. w00t.
I leave you with the Sheila's Wheels advert (in case you've never seen them)
